Set Up Overseas P.O. Box
When stationed overseas, DoD members are authorized a free U.S. Postal Service (USPS) mail box on base and they share it with their dependents. Most on base Post Offices offer the same services and rates as U.S. Post Offices.
Sign Up for a P.O. Box! Inbound DoD members within 30 days of reporting can usually request a P.O. Box. Your sponsor or unit representative can request a P.O. Box for you online, through e-mail, or by visiting the Post Office in person.
They will need:
- Copy of your orders
- Your CAC ID number
Address Change
Submit a change of address before traveling to avoid delays with forwarding bills and mail.
Upon Arrival
DoD members must go to the Post Office in person to retrieve combination to P.O. Box and to enroll in e-notifications for package deliveries using your preferred email for you and your spouse.
APO Mail Service
When using USPS on installation, sending mail or packages back home takes 10-14 days with priority or first class service.
